As
in all sports and entertainment endeavors there is an element
of risk, in the execution and completion of the event.
A
baseball player has a repertoire of pitches, including curve balls,
fast balls, etc. to mitigate the risk of a batter hitting the
ball out of the park. For a successful event, there should be
the equivalent alternatives of action.
In
the beginning of the planning for the event, the project risk
is at its highest. Strategies for identifying and managing risk
and the execution of alternatives are components of a successful
event. With GIS providing Risk Management expertise, the discovery
and proper mitigation of risks will lead to a more successful
game, a superior concert, or a memorable professional conference.
GIS
helps identify potential factors that cannot be controlled such
as weather, to items that are known, for example, the location
of the facility for the event. For each possible risk, we determine
the probability, based on history and client research.
After determining the risk, the client determines the best alternative.
In the case of a possible late delivery of sound equipment to
a concert, a risk mitigation may be a contract with a second sound
equipment provider to execute
Frequently,
sports or entertainment events are so different from previous
successful implementations, the event has a larger risk potential
and should be addressed as a new event.
